This is the teaser, some very beautiful sounds here. I'm not super familiar with Microphones/Mount Eerie other than loving The Glow pt. 2 and generally enjoying the other stuff that I've heard (which is mostly the newest Mount Eerie stuff, although I never really play ACLAM/Now Only for obvious reasons) but this seems cool.

some more black metal vibes, but compelling... Thanks for finding that.

B+ on that one. Kind of lingers a bit too long in the second half of the record but closes out incredibly!

I like it too, though I think my favorite tracks are the ones already released (Kyoto and Garden Song). The latter in particular is something I've been listening to over and over; I love the production on it.

Both of her records have been a bit spotty, but when she's at her best it's fantastic.

This was almost identical to soccer mommy's last album. Released 2 brilliant songs early on then the album is good but not as high as those first two releases.

Phoebe's a great folk songwriter, but my favorite moments in her records are always the more rock oriented songs. Motion Sickness & Kyoto are my favorites from each album.

i didnt paid attention to the singles when they were released and listened to the whole album. It felt super cohesive and good. I loved the closer.

I agree that the soccer mommy album is underwhelming but I'm not feeling the same thing here. My favorite songs from Stranger in the Alps were "South Street" and "You Missed my Heart," so while I really like "Kyoto" I'm loving this one's quieter moments. Also "I Know The End" rules.

Yeah, some of the slower, moodier pieces on Stranger also took time to work on me. I'm sure it'll be the same here.

I Know The End is a stunning song, though. In addition to the big fanfare at the end, I don't remember a lyrical ending to a record that hit me the way the last couplet did (she's really good at that, using a lyric of a song to build up to a line or bunch of lines that wallop you).

The instrumentation on that track feels really Sufjan-esque (like circa Illinois), which I wasn't exactly nostalgic for but really fucking enjoy.

This is a solid record that I imagine I'll return to with some frequency. After one listen I'd say I like it but don't love it. Again, I imagine it'll grow over time. That closing track is fantastic.

Not sure when it's coming out but Deftones are remixing White Pony and calling it Black Stallion as part of a 20th anniversary reissue.

I posted before about the first Nashville Minimalism Unit album, Brenda Leigh, but I didn't know at the time that it was a collection of live jams akin to the stuff that bandleader Kurt Newman was putting up in the last year before that was released. Recently, another NMU album went up on Bandcamp, this one recorded in studio last August and December. It's called Soldier's Joy and Newman describes it as "fiddle-driven big beat electric minimalist country instrumentals."
