Sorry if you've answered this already, wease, but why do you hate mayo but like sour cream?
They’re two totally different products. And quite honestly, I’m not, like, a super fan of sour cream. I like it ok as a base for stuff and on items like a burrito or something but I can’t stand it on a baked potato.

They are different. Just seems to me that reasons most people don't like mayo would apply to sour cream as well. But if you're not a big fan of sour cream, either, that makes sense. Do you like anything with a mayo base? Like a tuna noodle casserole? Or any kind of mayo bases slaw? It just feels inconsistent to me to despise one and tolerate the other and I'm looking for insight as to why.

I do not. The taste of the mayo always comes thru. It’s not the consistency that bothers me, it’s straight up the taste. And when you get down to it, mayonnaise and sour cream don’t taste anything alike. At all.

so there's really only one thing I'll use mayo for -- grilling whole fish directly on the grill grate. it makes it virtually non-stick, and it burns off.

Egg yolks- sometimes. I like them in a fried egg but hate them hard boiled. Dijon mustard- not really. I'm not a big fan of mustard in general, but if I do get it on a sandwich, it's spicy brown Sunflower oil- no problems Vinegar- love it Lemon juice- love it
