Not trying to be a dick, but I really don't understand how. I love Stevie Wonder but what he's doing with that weird instrument is kind of a trainwreck. And since it's the only instrument providing any kind of harmonic backing, the whole thing sounds like it's forever on the verge of falling apart

Different strokes... but you don’t like the song in the first place and are already predisposed to not like the cover of it. That’s cool. I’m sure there’s plenty of stuff you like that I don’t.
Speaking of the song in general, I always just thought it was ok. Didn’t love it, certainly didn’t hate it. After being a father for a number of years, it actually resonates with me more now than it ever did when it was first released. To know of the absolute horror he went thru and how it was a healing mechanism for him. I don’t know if I could be so productive if something like that ever happened to me.

Putting aside my opinion of the song, Stevie is fucking up left and right. It's just comically sloppy. I guess he didn't have a lot of time to rehearse

Cover songs that make me say "holy shit" can both be good and bad.
Some of the good ones I really like:
Baby, Please Don't Go - AC/DC Pipeline - Anthrax Brand New Cadillac - The Clash I Heard It Through The Grapevine - Creedence Clearwater Revival Gloria - The Doors Stuck In The Metal - Eagles of Death Metal (They changed the name to "metal" from "middle", but it's still a cover) Breadfan - Metallica The Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana Sonic Reducer (studio) - Pearl Jam Dock of the Bay - Pearl Jam I Got You - Pearl Jam Let My Love Open the Door - Pearl Jam Can't Help Falling In Love - Pearl Jam Renegades of Funk - RATM Higher Ground - RHCP Dancing in the Streets - Van Halen Young Man Blues - The Who

This legitimately might be the best performance of any song ever. Of all time. I happen to be dead serious. For realz.
That solo, and everything that follows the beginning of it’s infancy, is insanely amazing. It’s perfection... perfection plus... well, it is perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Tallest Man on Earth's cover of "The Bluest Eyes in Texas" has been stuck in my head all week. (Starts at 3:30 if the tag doesn't work.) (Seven edits later, the tag did not work.)
