Do you think the fact that you use such a basic, Trumpian metric to assess the world is connected to your depression?

Best line of the debate for me was, "So are we going to take away your AR15, your AK47? Hell yeah we are!" I'm loving watching all the "come and take it" gun nuts freaking out over that this morning.

That's literally the worst thing they could have said on the topic.

I support a mandatory buyback program but yeah that was a fucking stupid soundbite to just drop into the lap of the GOP. Beto's new thing is saying curse words about guns though.

I'm tired of people pussyfooting around the gun lobby and the minority of people in this country who support owning assault weapons (or guns in general). Seriously, fuck them.

Beto has been saying that since El Paso. What I thought was a little strange but effective was describing explicitly, with gory details, how effective those guns are at killing people.
I think Booker is good in this debate setting. Bernie & Warren were better last time. The debate overall was meh.

I am just getting caught up on last night's debate...
If anyone other than Warren clinches the nom, in my view the whole thing will have been a sham, obvious machinations by the DNC based on polling and "electability" rather than what is readily apparent: that she's been putting forth the best arguments, and the best composure, over and over again.
I don't necessarily think every plan she has will come to pass, nor that those that might would even be successful. But based on the strength of her arguments and presence, everyone else looks like a total amateur.
To better understand which candidates did well or poorly Thursday night, we plotted how favorably respondents rated the candidates before the debate vs. how debate-watchers rated their performance. Warren was one of the better-liked candidates going into the debate, but her performance was still rated higher than we’d expect based on her favorability alone. The same was true of Booker, Buttigieg and (especially) O’Rourke. Interestingly, Klobuchar didn’t get a great debate rating, but it’s not bad considering her pre-debate favorability, which was pretty neutral. Biden (who’s very popular among Democrats) and Castro stand out for performing worse than expected given their pre-debate favorability.
