Also doesn’t this mean Sam is Lord Tarley now?

Are they still even an entity held to their vows now? Given the circumstances?

The current circumstances are literally the reason they were put together. I think it'll be a bit different come season's end, but for now Sam is not recognized as Lord Tarly.

I’d love even a brief mention of how many nights watch are even left
It doesn’t seem like there were that many at the end of the last season

Plus once the wall is down what are they to do? Die defending the rubble?
I’d say they’ve all ran for the hills apart from the main ones we know in this episode

When Jon was riding the dragon, I assumed he was gonna chase those bullies into the ally and make THEM jump into the dumpster, not cuck Drogon

The Dany/Jon dragon sequence might be the worst scene in the entire series. Just awful, Star Wars prequels love story bad, writing and execution.

It's kind of absurd to me that will all of the reunions I'd thought about and anticipated.

The very last one in the episode never crossed my mind. That was pretty fucking awesome.

Also, structurally, I wonder if the penultimate scene was ever the final scene during the initial writing process. Seeems like a strong and on brand scene to close the first of the final eps.

I'd love to see some more breakdowns of how much this ep mirrors the pilot, too. There's just a ton of parallels. Like, are the eps the same length? Do the mirror scenes happen at roughly the same place a lot?

I wasn't expecting any big action or dramatic sequences right away so while the Jon/Dany stuff was awful I wasn't disappointed in the episode. But I'm buckled up for what should be a fun ride here out. Like others I loved the last five minutes. The one bit with the wright gave me a rush of goose bumps.
I feel little embarrassed that I didn't realize that was Jaime until he took off his hood.

I'll wait for someone to break it all down for us. Best parts of the episode for sure. The crypts and Lyanna, Bran/Jaimie/, Arya and the marching army, etc.

Yeah, it was that bad. I had flashbacks of the Anakin-Padme picnic.

The rest of the episode was decent. The only great moment for me was the Bran-Jamie eye contact.

So in typical Targarayen style they’re keeping it the family.
Is it true
Spoiler: show
shes already pregnant by him with twins? And she only tells him when he reveals to her who he really is?

I guess it's no coincidence that
Spoiler: show
the dragon Jon rides is named after his father. And she must suspect he's related after that ride.

Spoiler: show
cersei is playing the part of vulture, ready to employ the golden company to (attempt to) destroy what's left from the battle of the white walkers and the army assembled in the north

she's lying about providing support from the south, a fact an incredulous sansa can't believe tyrion didn't pick up on

so there were so many parallels. when the show opened with the kid running, my wife mentioned that this reminded her of the very first episode. the connection i made was with bran climbing the castle, similar to the kid climbing the tree. but it went beyond that:

* in episode 1, we had a the arrival of a king to winterfell, and here we have the arrival of a queen
* arya sneaking around people trying to get a glimpse of king robert in episode 1, and here we had the boy doing the same
* circling back with jon and arya and the emphasis on needle
* the crypts and the momentous conversations there, with season 1 having robert asking ned to be hand of the king, and here jon learning about his lineage, both of which are setting things in motion
* the crypts and the emphasis on lyanna stark
* the white walkers leaving the symbols
* the episodes ending with bran and jaime

i'm sure that there are plenty more

why is tyrion, after being one of the smartest, most astute characters, made out to be an imbecile in the past couple of seasons with one bad decision/thought after another?

also, how terrible of an expectant mom is cersei with her continued wine drinking?

Thats what I figured but it sorta seems sorta out of character for everyone else to just believe her and not question her intentions at all. As mentioned, Tyrion especially
