The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Pristine vinyl transfers of the mono 1st LP and original "Aoxomoxoa" on the Prof Stoned blog right now. No decent reissues yet because the original tapes no more exist. Oh! Oh!
If you've been part of the Dead.net community for the past few years, then you know we're on a mission to make a miracle every day in the month of November. This year is no different.
As a token of our appreciation for making 2017 an epic year, we're giving away a high-quality 320Kbps MP3 download every day this month. That's 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, selected by Dead archivist and producer David Lemieux! Intrigued? We're also going to put your knowledge to the test and give you a chance daily to win a limited-edition 7" single, the 1st release from our 2017 series.

With the Dead you gotta go live maybe grab there greatest hits to get familiar with there songs which are great. The Dead just take to the next level live myself I prefer late 60s Dead 67-69 their sound very pyschadelic during that era then the early 70s they started more to experiment with a more country blue grass sound. They have so many good shows also some very bad ones in 80s when Jerry was dosing heavily on H. Also I'd recommend The Jerry Garcia Band.

I bought the 3-disc sampler from the Pacific Northwest box that came out last fall. That 46-minute Playing in the Band sure is something, but that third disc run of He's Gone>Truckin'>The Other One>Wharf Rat>Sugar Magnolia is just transcendent.

As the years go by I am getting more and more into The Dead. It is definitely "old man living out in the country" music.
As in overall Grateful Dead or The Dead which was the chosen moniker to tour in the early 2000s? I enjoy a ton of both but maybe (un)surprisingly they are very different from each other.

I was talking about the original Grateful Dead.
Jesus fuck me, I have to be specific now?
Not at all but it's pretty easy to get stuck in the plethora of shows from the original line-up(s). Being a big Warren Haynes fan I was quite happy to get The Dead line-up but the Dead and Co shows I have listened to have been pretty damn fantastic.
If you don't have them, thecurtainwith blog has put up the the 30 Days of Dead from 2010 to 2017.

Glad to see another fan of Warren. God I love him.

I have had some great times at Mule shows and he was spectacular with the Allmans but of all the times I've seen him sitting right up top is catching his performance at Levon's Barn touring for Man in Motion. One set with the band and then he filled in for Larry Campbell for the Levon set; he's just a stellar professional.

Warren Haynes is just fantastic and I wish I took more opportunities to see him live over the years. I saw him with Gov’t Mule last year where he broke out a cover of Come Back that floored me. They haven’t released the shows on Nugs from Port Chester and they were very strict about photos or any other recordings, so perhaps he is planning some live release. Band played for 3.5 hours so who knows.
