The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Saying we should reject efforts that only make us 10% better than garbage portrays a clear stance on where we are.
Where we is probably the best state that any large nation has ever been in terms of equity and opportunity. Not perfect, but likely the best.
Lmao yes *please* run on the platform of "we're pretty good!" That is definitely an accurate reading of the current political climate.
Trump ad:
“You’ve worked hard, you support your family. Do you know what the Democrats think? (Plays exact clip quoted above starting with “where we are..”).”
That will work for his base

Lol sure. There's a lot of ways the Democrats can and probably will bungle the 2020 election but this is not one of em, bub.

I disagree. Think about Hilary and that “what does it even matter...” quote. Fair or not, AOC needs to be more careful. her every word will be twisted and reinterpreted.

I don't disagree with that at all, though I also don't think she needs to be especially careful as if that would prevent the unending wave of bad faith attacks on her from the right. But Hillary's big gaffe was the deplorables line-which was yes, unbelievably fucking stupid, out of touch brain worms shit, but it was also quite different from what AOC is saying here: deplorables is an identity label that shows resentment. Things could be better than this garbage hellworld we live in is, well, not that. Certainly Tucker and friends are going to try to run with this, and certainly some people who are, politically speaking, irredeemable for the left will go along with it, but it's not going to help build the case that Dems hate American workers. I'd point to two other bits of evidence--one is the colossal failure of the America is Already Great tactic and the other is the Corbyn playbook (which AOC and others are following pretty well) and the number of UKIP seats JC and co flipped a few years back (driven by a narrative of many vs. few). In other words, someone's cheating you is, to my eyes, a much more salient and appealing narrative right now than the idea of being proud of what you have.

“You’ve worked hard, you support your family, and you support your country. YOU have made America great. What have Republicans done with the fruits of your labor?”
Cut to tax cuts for the rich, toxic chemicals, coal plant waste, and powerful pesticides in the water, the Foxconn giveaway, Trump saying farmers will understand if his tariff war causes them harm, the ACA repeal, exposed voter suppression efforts, the net neutrality repeal, student debt protection erosions, manufacturing laborer exposure to beryllium deregulated, efforts to weaken the Volcker rule, picture of Jared smiling with Saudis, picture of Trump smiling with Kim, Fade out on Fortune magazine cover story: “U.S. Income Inequality Hasn't Been This Bad Since Just Before the Great Depression”
Seems like a great way for republicans to yet again fall backwards into making the “socialism” thing more popular.
