The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Yeah, I'd LOVE to see that happen. That's what I'm hoping for. But it seems more likely to me that they won't announce at Celebration this year and they'll wait to see how The Mandalorian does first. It sucks that Kenobi keeps falling victim to the success of other properties.
I think it’ll be this year. They need a huge launch and a sustained level of interest in the platform to make a go of it. Mandalorian and Cassian aren’t enough to carry that I don’t think. From a SW fan POV.
I think this is where SW fans are getting hung up. Disney+ isn't a Star Wars streaming service. They have Fox's content. They have Marvel's content. They have Disney's content. They are developing a ton of original content under all of those IP's.
Every Star Wars fan looks at the slate and thinks "man, that's nowhere near enough Star Wars content for a whole streaming service!" But Star Wars is one tiny part of what this thing is.

That’s my point though. From all the various sw pods I listen to the consensus with a few exceptions, is ‘there’s not enough SW content on it for me to get on board’ But my thinking would be they’ll absolutely ramp up production of new series in all the properties. They can’t just show the marvel or sw films on repeat. People aren’t gonna pay for that when they have it in multiple formats already, digital and physical.
TLDR Lotta Reluctance out there to sign up to this for content already owned. unless tons of other series come down.
Plus they can announce a Kenobi series and we’re not getting it it 2022 or whatever. They need to get people on board for a big start / big $ return first year though.
I think those people are underestimating the hunger at large (beyond Star Wars) for the service. I'm not sure Disney is hanging their hat on Star Wars and their fans making or breaking the service.
I agree that they need more SW content. That's why all those shows are in development. Kenobi looks closest/most ready to go by all accounts. If they announce it at Celebration, I'll be totally stoked. I want them to. I'm just not convinced that it's going to happen.
They have Ep 9, The Mandalorian, Jedi:Fallen Order, The Clone Wars, The Phantom Menace anniversary, etc. Plus all the other animation, books, comics, etc. There's a lot to stuff wrapped up in all of that. And they'll want Ep 9 and The Mandalorian front and center because those are coming up first.
Again, doesn't mean we won't get an official announcement. But it's likely that we won't. Hope I'm wrong. I want this Kenobi thing more than anything else outside of Ep 9.

It’ll happen. It’ll be a series. It’ll be awesome.
*then that alt right hate everything faction will be back to claim it as a victory that they forced it doen from a movie to a shitty tv series (they’re already shitbombing the RT scores reviews for Captain Marvel and it’s isn’t out yet).

Kenobi series and Bennioff&Weis trilogy ? Or RJs trilogy?
Quote:
the third as yet unannounced Star Wars TV series will be shot in the UK under the production name of SERIES III PRODUCTIONS (UK) LIMITED which was registered on the public UK companies register on the 12th October 2018. We anticipate that the focal point of the series will be revealed at Star Wars Celebration in April.
Registered on the exact same day was E&E INDUSTRIES (UK) LIMITED which we understand will be the first film from the planned Rian Johnson trilogy.
It should be noted that for convenience Disney register businesses in blocks, and the creation of these businesses does not mean they started production at those dates, merely that they intend to enter production soon.
This can of course mean very early design development, and does not necessarily mean they will see final production, as seen recently with PLT Productions (the Kenobi movie.)

I’ve come all the around from wanting a movie to wanting the series. More room to play In and develop his story and character. They need something to announce at Celebration and it’s unlikely GOT guys will be there or have anything even to show and Rians definitely in a cool down corner despite still being on board.
