I'm torn... I can't really do the Death March and my favorite ultra (the Crown King 50K).

They are only two weeks apart and, unfortunately, the Death March is first.

It tears my body up too much to put in a legit effort at Crown King. :?

I'm leaning towards the Death March.

Signed up for a drawing after my marathon and they called me today saying I won a pair of New Balance Beacons.

I initially wasn't all that excited, but the Beacons are getting rave reviews.

Really trash run today. At least my mileage has been increasing, although the hip bursitis (?) hasn't gone away yet.

The NB Beacons are pretty great. I can see why they are so popular. Light and responsive. The 6MM drop feels a little strange.

I hated the Fresh Foam line-up when it first started because they just felt like a mushy mess, but these have a nice balance between bounce and cushion.

Does the custom fit feel any better on those or are they just for people who are lazy as fuck?

I have patellar tendonitis (self-diagnosed) and I may never run again and I want to die.

I had such a weird weekend. I was convinced something was terribly wrong with me and I was probably about to have (or was having) some kind of cardiac event. I managed to get a 3.5 miler in on the treadmill Sunday in spite of dizziness, stomach issues, and this weird tingling heat on my scalp. Luckily, no chest pains during the run or shortness of breath. But I went slow and stopped when the fog in my head became overwhelming.

Then yesterday, before my doctor's appointment, I managed another 5 miler on the treadmill. Again, went slower than usual and tried to pay attention to my body. Things seemed fine. No unusual shortness of breath. No chest issues. No dizziness.

Check-up/physical seemed to go really well. The nurse said "I love your blood! It's so fast!" Which was weird. But the doc said I definitely wasn't having any kind of cardiac event. He seemed pleased with the physical overall and thought I was totally fine. I'll get my blood and EKG results back next week. But I think I'm good.

It's like 50 and sunny right now. So, hopefully, I'll be able to get an outdoor run in after work today. :bammer:

Maybe you were just dehydrated or hadn't been eating right?

Yeah, I think it was the "perfect shit storm."

I had a large coffee right before lunch. Then I had a beer with lunch. Then two beers with some french fries a couple of hours later. Then my wife and I met up with a friend before this concert (which was Twin Peaks themed) and we shared chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks for dinner. With which we obviously had coffee (I had TWO more cups past 6 pm and I never drink coffee past like 4) and pie -- I had an entire slice of cherry pie all to myself.

Then after the concert we had a couple more beers before heading home after midnight.

I think I had a total of like two glasses of water over the course of the entire day.

That night I was miserable. Gas pain. Bloating. Nausea. Overall discomfort. And I couldn't sleep. I kept waking up in a panic. I would have weird pains or fluttering in my stomach. I was sweating terribly. My left arm (which falls asleep fairly easily and has for a long time) would tingle or feel numb or have weird pain and anxiety just took over. I was panicked as fuck. Convinced something was terribly wrong. I almost didn't want to fall asleep because I was terrified I wouldn't wake up.

This went on all through the weekend, like I said. Each day got a bit better but a new thing would pop up (like numbness in my cheek for some reason) and I'd worry myself all over again. My wife thought I was having panic attacks, which I've never had before.

I still haven't had a complete, good, full night's sleep since for one reason or another.

But I haven't had any coffee/caffeine or alcohol since Friday night. I've been drinking a lot of water. But now I can feel my body going through some caffeine withdrawal type symptoms -- headaches, muscle aches, etc.

Anyway. I think it was dehydration plus hangover plus caffeine "overdose" and exhaustion. And maybe a bit of panic attack, too. Either way, my doctor says I'm fine. So... here's hoping!

Do you think you have "fast blood" because you got five TM miles in before seeing the doctor?

Maybe?

I have no idea how the body works, clearly.

Pretty much every runner has a period of anxiety over heart attacks.

I had one a couple of years ago when I passed out after running. Ended up paying $2,000 out of pocket for 7 different tests. I kinda knew it was just a drop in blood pressure (vasovagal syncope), but I also cracked my head because I was in the shower and my wife was really freaked out.

I sorry that happened but, not gonna lie, it makes me feel a lot better.
