isn't about time for a female Batman, America? amirite or amirite?
I'm really not intending to be transphobic when I say that Ben Affleck comes pretty close.

Ben Affleck has been confirmed as the new Batman in the Man Of Steel sequel. Haha.
This is going to be interesting.

I haven't been particularly excited about Batman in a Superman movie. The Affleck casting doesn't change that. Breckin Meyer as the Joker? Haven't heard that. But whoever gets the role has some huge shoes to step in to. I know we all thought that with Ledger following Nicholson but at least 19 year gap between their movies.
Obviously, I've never met the guy. But from what I've seen in interviews/stories and from whatever public persona he lets out, Ben Affleck seems like a nice enough guy. I know some people who partied with him back in the day (before he got married) and they said he was a giant, coked out, womanizing, arrogant asshole. Maybe he's let go of some of that? Maybe not. During the Oscar push there seemed to be a lot of humility and regret coming from him. So something happened.
Anyway, I'm fine with what I know about him as a dude, he seems like a good father, and he's proven to be a very good director. And if he really co-wrote GWH and didn't con his buddy into throwing his name on for him, he can write well enough, too.
I'll defend Ben Affleck to a degree. But he's not a good actor. And I see him struggling with this, big time. Like he did Daredevil. Just like Clooney did in that Bat-thing he killed. I'm seeing a lot of worse case scenarios with this casting. Rolled up with all of them is that I'm still not sold on Batman v Superman as a good follow up to MoS, or a good idea in general really.
Maybe if they were casting Affleck as the new Batman in a stand alone first? I don't know. Hopefully, he proves me wrong. But I'm not optimistic.
