The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
There are some Ragged Glory outtakes circulating on bootlegs -- nothing terribly earth-shattering, if memory serves, though the B-side "Don't Spook the Horse"' is a noisy good time and deserving of a more widespread release.
Hopefully the newly unearthed stuff gets a standalone release.

from an outside perspective (not nearly as engulfed in NY fandom as most of you), this sounds pretty sweet. but in the canon of NY releases, i don't know where "ragged glory" stands. out of curiosity, why is this news not as exciting?

A New Young Archives announcement sounded like maybe it was Archives Vol. II, which we've been waiting 9 1/2 years for. Getting unreleased music like this is good news, but it's not on the same level as the archive.
Just booted up the site again, and it appears that today's actual announcement was that the Neil Young Archives iOS app has been released.

are releases like this new Ragged Glory a bad thing for Archives Vol 2 (or 3)? seems like a release like this is eating into the unreleased tracks that normally would come as a nice surprise and selling point of such a big box set. in the end, will Archives Vol 2 just be a collection of these individually released efforts?
(this coming from someone who doesn't have or never listened to Archives Vol 1, so i have no idea what i'm really talking about)

Yeah I think releases like this and hitchhiker reduce the likelihood of big archive boxsets.
Honestly I much prefer the smaller, more manageable releases to big expensive box sets substantially comprised of previously released material. Neil has kept up an awesome schedule with these archive releases, the selections have all been great, and the duplication of previously released material has been minimal. If one comes at the expense of the other, I prefer the current format.
