I don't know if Christmas Vacation is objectively good or funny, but it's my favorite Christmas movie. Mostly because my family watches it every year. There are some great lines that still make me laugh.

It's deeply bizarre to me that the big injustice the audience is supposed be with Clark on is that his boss doesn't give him a big enough bonus to buy a pool. The 1980s were a very different time.
This stands out for sure.
I dont agree that is whats going on. He gets a membership tot he jelly of the month club. Yes, he put money down on a pool, but i think what sets it off is the fact that its not even a financial bonus. Its a jelly of the month club
hot take: Daniel Day Lewis drastically overacts in TWBB.
I said this back when it came out and got a lot of shit for it. I didn't buy him and Dano together. Compare it with the scene at the end of The Master when Phil Seymour is singing to Joaquin, there's just so much genuine chemistry there. But I think it's a far superior movie to TWBB in almost every way, so.

Yeah I agree. Dano and Lewis aren't great together. I much prefer The Master.
