The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I know this isn’t completely new anymore, but it does seem to be the current flagship of Star Wars gaming. I’m impressed by how great it looks. I’ve often thought about playing a Star Wars game, but seldom have. Should be plenty of potential.

I’m going to try the single player later today. Only played the multiplayer so far.
«The game's single player protagonist, Iden Versio, leader of an Imperial Special Forces group known as Inferno Squad, participates in multiple events in the 30 years leading up to The Force Awakens. There are segments in the campaign where the player is able to control other characters such as Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren.»
It does a good job covering the period after Return Of The Jedi. We even see the death star blow up as we are fighting on Endor. Later we are on fighting in space, on both sides in different sequences, and also on Naboo, and at Maz’ place. The graphics really bring this to life. Like taking part in a movie.

I don't doubt it. The first Battlefront looked and sounded amazing, but gameplay options were limited. The sequel looks even better, but completely botched the rollout with the loot box thing. I have to assume that someone lost their job over that.

Isn't EA notorious for fucking up shit like that though? I feel like they had another PR nightmare with another game before BFII. Maybe I'm crazy? I don't keep up with this stuff well enough.

Not sure about prior games, because Battlefront was literally the first game I played with any commitment in like 15 years. But based on my experience with that, I can say they definitely do some shitty things:
1. Roll out half-finished games;
2. Release constant updates, tweaks, and re-jiggerings to keep the playing field level, and to address the bugs that weren't fixed before release;
3. Split the player bases up by putting DLC content onto separate servers. Wanna play on Naboo? Great! You're limited to a single game type, and that game with that level is only hosted on the same server as the three other levels from the DLC. But that server doesn't host the base game maps. So if you want to play those, you'll have to log onto the other server, but that server doesn't host the Naboo maps. Nor the maps from the other DLC, those are on a different server entirely.

It's amazing to me that it still happens. I know a lot of people boycotted BFII because of previous problems with the franchise and EA in general. You think they'd learn. Maybe nothing's hurt their bottom line enough yet.

well the irony is that they caught so much flack for the pay-to-win model they had planned for Battlefront 2, that they completely screwed their marketing message. The game came out right before Xmas, and no one bought it because they heard they'd have to buy loot boxes just to compete. And the most recent title, Battlefield V, "doesn't include any paid DLC" (but there's plenty of cosmetic stuff, though. And a lot of it is camouflage patterns that help on certain maps. So it basically is pay-to-win).

I finished the campaign now, and I’ve got nothing negative to say about it. Not that everything is perfect, but you get a really good story (on par with Rebels), you get to take part through a very interesting character, you get to play on several worlds and battles, including The Battle Of Jakku post ROTJ, fly an x-wing in magnificent battles, and even have scenes as Leia, Luke, Lando and Kylo Ren.

Yes, I read about this. Really stupid. Glad they didn’t do it. I found the game for $20 on Xbox Live, and haven’t had to pay for anything else.

Yes, the free DLC has been nice. With the Solo and now Clone Wars content there has been a reason to boot it up every few months.
Another interactive game for Star Wars fans is this secret project from EA, which created the recent Battlefront reboot, and its Respawn Entertainment division, responsible for the Titanfall games. Again, no release date has been confirmed, but Fallen Order will debut in time for next holiday season, according to the game maker. It will focus on a Padawan trainee who survived the Jedi massacre seen in Revenge of the Sith.»

Has anyone else played this?
Yes, for several hours. Think I am level 23...
Your reply was 1st of December. I just got to level 24.
