I’ve a couple of Star Wars pals who are submariners in the US navy and they haven’t told me stories or anything but they have said we’d all be surprised just how often really fucked up scary scenarios happen in the deep. One likened it to ‘a never ending game of chess underwater but with nuclear weapons.’

Red October conveys that brilliantly.

In a weird way, I also consider The Wrath of Khan a great submarine movie.

I recently saw a complete set of all the Star Trek films both old crew and tng in a cool box for €20 and I didn’t buy it. Kinda pissed I didn’t.

Master & Commander is the best naval warfare movie. Or maybe Popeye.

After watching Master & Commander I thought to myself that it was the best Star Trek movie I'd seen in a while.

Considering how badly his films did I don't think he'll ever get the chance to be anything else anyway.
