I think we can all agree that the call and response in Corduroy is one of the worst things ever to happen to music, but I was listening to the Prague boot from this year today and the jam that they laid down in the middle of the song was awesome, it had a ragged edge to it but also a groove that told you the band was rockin' it together, and it just captured an energy that's Pearl Jam at its finest.
...and then they went into the call and response "o-o-o's." So close!

Is it the same thing that happens every single time they’ve played the song since they decided to play it in a lower key, where everyone (especially Ed) gets confused and vacillates uncomfortably between the original key and the new key? Happens every time with that one song without fail.

I still think the best version of Habit is where EV and Liam Finn play it as a 2 piece with drums and guitar.

yeah sort of, except ed gives up on singing it and they abandon the song halfway through. then ed says "fuck him" and starts talking about trump?? i watched a video to find out what happened cos it sounded like maybe he was kicking someone out but he was just over with stone looking like they were trying to figure out what they were doing. no idea what happened.

It's always Stones fault.

I actually enjoy part of the call and response stuff in Corduroy. The "yeah yeah yeah" back and forth with the crowd always sounds good, but then the "oh oh oh oh" up and down bit he does after that is what sucks ass.
The way they're generally jamming it out these days is pretty cool, though. Like someone just said, when they're locked in tight it sounds great.
And yes, I've been buying all the bootlegs except for the festivals.

The mid-song Corduroy jams are interesting, and it's cool to change things up from studio versions. But, still, overall I find it terrible. Every time it creates an awkward moment when the crowd starts singing along the next lines before confusion sets in. It's otherwise such a propulsive moment in the song, there are dozens of better places in studio songs where they could put the breaks on and insert a jam. If it has to be Corduroy, there are better places in the song to do it. And then the call-and-response itself can be cheesy.
That being said, I'm glad they are at least trying things like this.

I've noticed several songs were slowed down on this tour. MFC from a boot on SiriusXM was nearly album speed.
Maybe they are listening to the very constructive and never negative feedback they get on the Red Mksquito Forum.
Or Ed just said, "I'm out of shape guys."
to be fair, they're in their mid 50s haha
