Would a band like PJ benefit from a surprise album drop ... let’s say like a month from now? Or does it benefit them more to build up to an announced release date?
Makes no difference to me, I’ll buy the album. I don’t know how these things work.
Or perhaps they are focused on live boot sales for the next few months. Then a surprise album drop in like February.
Is there any recent data on album sales when you compare surprise to standard release?

I’m sure someone else has mentioned this, but as the 2nd Fenway show was wrapping up, EV said it was the last time they’d play together for a while and the next would be in the studio.

They’re waiting to see if Trump wins in 2020

The idea of doing the traditional album cycle of conducting interviews with magazines nobody reads anymore and making an appearance on the Friday night late late show to play the single probably sounds great to these guys. Drags out the process as much as possible.
