There are lots of fun things to do around the city on days without shows. You can go to the MFA or the Gardner museum. If anyone you're with likes shopping, go to Newbury Street on Tuesday (hopefully crowds will be smaller that day). Avoid Cambridge as it'll be move-in weekend (otherwise I would suggest going to Harvard Square for a burger and some of the more low-key bars for some day drinking). If you like the bar scene and want to get the real Boston experience of having gay slurs thrown at you, than go to Faneuil Hall after you get in on Saturday and it's bound to happen. I wasn't into the foodie scene or anything when I lived up there, so no idea where to go for real good eats.

boston isn't the best foodie city, tbh
Yeah I can't think of one place that I would recommend someone to go to get the "feel" for food in the city. I can tell you what bars are less shitty than others (circa 9 years ago), but for food I got nothing.

I'm going to take the T in after work on Tuesday (Quincy Center what what), which is easy because the parking is free. Last time I drove in we parked at a gas station near Emmanuel for $20 and it took 5 minutes to get out.

2 years ago my friends parked at the Hynes Auditorium Garage on Dalton street and it worked fine. It was a pleasant 10-15 minute walk and the price wasn't exorbitant.
