One of my favorite MT distilleries did a single barrel issue of a single malt, and gave it all to a liquor store about an hour away from here. Was in the neighborhood yesterday so I grabbed a pint for $22. It's pretty delicious. Not sure of the mash bill ("single malt whiskey" requires a minimum 51% malted barley), and the lack of age designation makes me think it's under two years. Definitely worth the $22 though. Do you guys have any experience with brandy?

I've come to love it, but have really only bought Christian Brothers.

What other brands should I try that won't break the bank?

it's a very broad category, with cognac, eau de vie, and other "pommices" all being variations on the theme
of fermented fruit. Laird's Applejack is a great bang-for-your-buck bottle, though for summer i'd be more into a pear brandy.

Buddy of mine in Boston turned me onto this, it's a great budget brand.

Had a bourbon based cocktail infused with CBD oil at dinner tonight. Felt pretty pretty good.

100%. I’m a poor ass teacher. I love Evan Williams. It is easily the best value whiskey out there.
