Pearl Jam Break Huge New Album News, Is There Pressure On Eddie Vedder? By Brett Buchanan - Jun 1, 2018 2
While Pearl Jam have confirmed before that they have been writing their new album since last year, no members had confirmed there was any recording outside of “Can’t Deny Me.” Stone Gossard announced on KISW on Tuesday that the band have recorded new song ideas.
“We’re writing right now, and we’re recording, and we’re going to have a record at some point, maybe 2019, but we’re recording and writing a lot right now.”
“We have some songs, but they’re not quite ready yet, but it’s going to be good.”
Gossard then sarcastically stated that he and Mike McCready had written 30 new song ideas. It’s unclear if it was a joke due to his sarcastic tone. We tend to think it is, but hope it isn’t!
“Me and Mike will write songs all day long, we’ve got like 30 of them right now.”
He said the key to finishing the songs id Eddie Vedder.
“Until it has a lyric, and until Ed sings on it, it’s still a possible song. I think when he falls in love with it, and finishes it, it’s a real process for him. He really likes to get in there and make it just right. I’d say that’s the hardest part, crossing the finish line with the vocals.”
The hosts said that hopefully the Chicago Cubs don’t have a good playoff run this year so Eddie Vedder can get in and finish the record, but Gossard said there is no pressure on his bandmate.
“Whenever he gets to it, it’s going to be fine by us. There’s no rush, and no pressure for him to do anything. We got lots of shows to play, we’ve got a buttload of songs that we still know already. We’ll just keep playing those songs, and reinventing those, and hopefully getting some new ones at some point.”

Ed's wife has developed quite the social media presence on insty, regularly posting popular liberal hashtags/memes, wearing orange today, etc...
Which i have no opinion on in-and-of-itself. But i'm mildly concerned this translates to status quo political engagement for Ed & Jill (plus all the philanthropy of course), which just makes me assume that we're only going to get another Lightning Bolt.

Ok, after 'No Code' Eddie said they he felt too much pressure writing all the lyrics so he opened the door for the other guys. On Yield, Binaural and Riot Act the other guys (mostly Jeff and Stone) wrote lyrics.
Let's go back to that again Eddie. Maybe this time Jeff & Stone need to say that Eddie is under too much pressure and they will step in writing lyrics and finishing songs

It shouldn't take 5 or 6 years to write new lyrics and sing on 11 or so new songs, especially for a gifted singer. Really disappointing that it appears the rest of the band is ready to go and the frontman is not.
