I'd rather have the Kenobi film.

The coolest thing about a boba fett film could be the exploration of the bounty hunter culture. It's been arguably the best part of clone wars, and has produced two great characters (three if you count Hando)

See that's just it.
I can't see them going there and really exploring what a bounty hunter is.
In a series maybe. In a film? It'd be some watered down safe for all no risk romp.
Which wouldn't honour or be true to this characters story or the truth of it in that universe.

Just that everything they did with Jango in the prequels took all the wind out of Boba Fett's sails for fans. Folks were way more interested in the enigmatic bounty hunter who took down Han Solo. Once they started to over explain him and get into some absurd clone backstory, people lost interest. If Boba Fett had not been a part of the prequel trilogy, I think you'd see fans clamoring for a Boba Fett film. As it stand, no one cares because we expect it to be dumb. Because how he was handled in the prequels is dumb.

I don't think I would have much interest in this film.

Have not seen Logan, but based on what I know about it that seems like a good director choice.

Oh shit, he did Copland and Walk the Line? Yeah, he's a great choice for this.

Eh. I'm one of the ones who didn't like either of his Wolverine movies. That said, I did like Walk the Line and 3:10 to Yuma.

Logan is really good but he also did that other Wolverine movie where he travels to Japan and fights a robot man

You're a disaster. That movie was set in China, and he was fighting a wheelchair-bound paraplegic.
And that wasn't Wolverine, that was the reanimated corpse of Amy Whinehouse.
And they weren't fighting, they were dancing. :?

I don’t know why but I have the depressing feeling this story has far more basis in fact than the Obi wan story

I actually think that of all the back stories they may opt to flesh out, this one stands the chance of paying the highest dividends provided that the execution is great...

Boba Fett was this iconic character when I was 7 because he looked so dang cool. But over the years I've realized there's not really much to him. His death in ROJ is super anti-climactic, and the whole "copy of a Boba" thing in the prequels further devalued his character's currency. But if they were to do an origin story and really nail it, all that stuff could take on a new significance.
