It was so over the top, it was actually fun. Man, im a sucker for Jason Bateman and Kyle Chandler.

Would this one be ok for my relatively conservative in-laws who are visiting this weekend? Brief nudity and some foul language would be fine, but over-the-top raunchiness would not be.

Then its kinda the perfect movie. Its pretty clean.

thanks, it's about to happen

Let me know how it goes.

This movie was wicked fun! Great chemistry between all the actors, some surprising twists, even the cinematography was above-average for the genre. One of the best Hollywood date-night comedies i've seen in a while. The in-laws were thoroughly entertained as well.

Me and my gal caught this in the theater and had an absolute blast. Was shocked at how much we enjoyed it. Great movie

I Tonya.
It was fine but not sure I would ever watch it again. It kind of felt like Coen brothers fim; the real life events were that out of the norm. I though Allison Janey was fine but not sure why she was a shoo-in for all the awards she won.

Yesterday I watched:
Downsizing (WAY better than I thought it would be. How come nobody talked about this movie, like, at all?)
Coco (Cried like an asshole)
Thor:Ragnarok (Total blast! Way funnier than I expected, too. Top tie Marvel)

Today, I saw Disobedience. Brilliant film. This is exactly my kind of movie. The performances across the board are out of this world. I'm sure it'll be forgotten by the time awards season rolls around but all three leads give devastating and perfect performances. What a joy this movie is.

Great movie. Chastain is at the top of her game. She is pure cinematic bliss.

Gladiator came out on 4K this week, so I watched it for the first time in years. It was one of those perfectly timed Y2K movies like The Matrix and Mission: Impossible II and other stuff that I watched countless times as a kid.

Unlike The Matrix, I don't think this film has aged well at all. It's kind of sloppy and goofy, with ramshackle action sequences that just sort of start and end with no sensuality or emotional tension. I remember thinking it felt intense and violent AF when I was younger, but now all the violent stuff seemed so shoddy and haphazard; I felt like I could barely see what was happening. And, by the end, the movie starts to feel visually claustrophobic. It seems like we rarely escape from dimly lit, tightly shot interiors.

On top of that, Maximus and Commodus are some of the most boring characters ever.

Maximus is a flawless, stoic man's man whom everybody instantly loves and trusts. He has zero faults and makes zero mistakes. He is perfect and everything he does is perfect. All he wants to do is be with his adoring wife and child, and then fulfill his dying surrogate-father's wish for the good of everyone.

Commodus is the exact opposite: pure evil from moment one. Weak, reptilian, slimy, pathetic, incestuous, heartless, selfish, whiny - utterly vile, despicable scum every second he's on screen. He has no redeeming qualities and deals with no complex issues. And Phoenix's performance is sooooooo over-the-top...and a little annoying.

Overall, the whole thing came off as slipshod, simplistic, and juvenile. It seems crazy that we haven't had a truly great, visceral movie about gladiators yet.

I always thought the action in Gladiator was crap, but I see the same problem in a million movies these days. I don't mind great heroes and moustache twirling villains though.
