I guess I'm well below middle class, but the childcare expenses are the same.

What the hell are they eating that three people spend $2100 a month on food?

$250 a week for groceries, $12 a day for lunch at work, date night at $150?

I interpreted it as if it was intended to be a "$300,000 really isn't that much" chart, but looking at most of those numbers it's more accurate for it to be a "$300,000 really isn't that much if you continuously make terrible decisions with your money" chart.

Maybe it wasn't intended to be either, but it's pretty awful regardless.

I think it's suppose to be "what does middle class behavior cost in the more expensive cities in North America", hence the scaled up cots of everything. There is certainly some overestimation there.

$300,000 a year is not even close to the "middle class".

I'd say it depends on where you live, but I think in most places, including cities, $300k would be plenty.

If you have a 700$ car note, you're an asshole. Even for two cars.

The middle class as defined by Pew Research is $42k-$125k.

Of course, but there's probably only about 3-4 metro areas where $300k a year would even he close to middle class.

California is now the 5th largest economy in the world, but the 17th most unequal in the world (below Mexico), and 2nd in the US behind New York. This won't end well.

Its not the winners at the top I'm most worried about. It's the losers that conclude they lost because they were cheated and decide to burn down the system that brings so much prosperity, despite most living better than anyone else in history, because they were jealous.

BWAHAHAHAA evil cred maintained.

I'm not worried about either of those groups. It's the people who were comfortably in the middle and then, sometimes suddenly, are excluded (i.e. Trump voters) that scare me.

I would just point out that these people aren't actually losers, but rather perceive themselves as losers because others are doing better. And yeah, these are the people that worry me tremendously.

The West is the best. Montana needs to get with the program, though.

how much money do you need?

to give yourselves a sense of security?

Not everyone gauges success on how much money they make.

So lets tax the fucking stock market....a 1% tax on trading covers health care...among a thousand other things...
