Lisbon 2006-09-05 (It's Okay tag)
- Unlike many 2006 versions this is nice and slow. Great crowd participation. The It's Okay tag is very good and concludes with an awesome Mike solo.

Milan 2000-06-22 (no tag, awesome call and response)
- Excellent main song, some great drum work, and the call and response is an all time classic (the birth of the ay-oh-ay chant?)

Jones Beach 2000-08-24 (It's Okay tag)
- Main song is serviceable, I know this version of the tag is well loved around here but some of the weird lyric changes have always bothered me ("Hope in an alleyway" WTF?)

Rotterdam 1993-07-16 (WMA tag)
- Not bad, though end of song is cut off. Not sure if we should use a WMA tag.

Washington DC 1998-09-19 (LO2L - RITFW/WMA tags)
- If we do use a WMA tag I think this is the one :nice:

Milan is the right choice and you know it.

No it isn't.

I did. It's on the b-sides comp. It's a much better mix without the engineer flub at the beginning, but there has been a layer of fake crowd noise added to it. The cassette also wobbles like a motherfucker.

Cool! I can only imagine that my copy will sound the same. I might still take a shot at it at some point - it's in my pile of to-dos (assuming I ever get around to it).

so a version with the it's okay tag is in there but not the one from VA beach

at least VA beach i could understand in the post-Abruzzese era

instead the proposal is just a bunch of cheap knock offs with personal significance for the gen y tranche of fans

how about the SNL performance?

matt cameron could sprout another arm and still not tickle the hi hat as well

I am tempted to use the VMA Animal, but still not convinced the tape source is up to scratch (the broadcast definitely isn’t). If you want to bump transferring tour copy up to the top of your to-do list to see if it’s any better we’d very much appreciate it

UglyRedHonda kindly transferred his tape for us and unfortunately it's no better, so I think the VMA Animal needs to be rejected due to poor sound quality :(

I really want to use the Vegas version however not sure whether Ed's 'be careful' in the last chorus spoils it enough to reject it - thoughts?

There's also a great Matt version from Boston 2000-08-30, but I think this song really should be a Dave A version.

At first I thought the "be careful" might be pretty cool, after a couple listens, it's cool, but doesn't sound that great.

Did any of the '92 versions of Leash come under consideration?

Zurich did, but the sound quality isn’t quite up to the standard of the others.

FAN-MADE PROJECT - NOT FOR SALE

It has been almost 13 years since the Green Habit Compilation was put together by the
Red Mosquito Forum community. As the band has now been together for double that length
of time, an update or sequel to this collection was well overdue. Hundreds of official
bootlegs later (including numerous 'vault' releases from the pre-bootleg era), every
song has been put up for review.

Red Mosquito forum users were invited to nominate and debate their favourite versions
of each song, for me to then go away and listen to each to make a final decision:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8556

There were a number of criteria for picking a definitive live version: sound quality,
correct lyrics, no guitar flubs, full band (if that is how the song was recorded in
the studio), electric rather than acoustic (again, if that is how the song was recorded),
and original era/drummer where possible (unless later versions had something really
special). Basically, if you had to represent the essence and power of each song through
one single live version - which would it be?

After a LOT of deliberation, this is what we came up with. Thank you to everyone for
your suggestions and for the discussion to date. This will be a constantly evolving
collection, so will be reviewed as new shows are played or released from the vault.
The best known source for each track has been used, and remastered by JWB only where
required to provide the smoothest possible listening experience.

Glad you guys are enjoying the first installment but there doesn't seem to be much appetite for discussion for Vs tracks - don't make me take this to the Pit!

This is better than the actual album. I don't think I've ever listened to this Porch, holy shit.

I've already expressed my preferences on the first 3 songs. This morning I'll give the last 3 a listen.

I tend to pick the shortest versions of live stuff but Blood from the Orpheum kicks butt. (but I"d be happy with either really)

Leash from Las Vegas 1993 is good but honestly, I usually skip this song.

Indifference from Indio sounds very cool, really stripped down, if that works for your mix go for it.
But Atlanta 94 is a beautiful thing and is my pick.
Didn't care for the 2003 at all.
