I don't think I've ever heard her music. Is this a good place to start?
Just check out a few of her songs yeah. You'll know pretty quickly whether you like her and her style. I heard someone say at the show last night there are two types of people in the world those who love Neko Case and those who haven't heard her yet.

One thing I really dig about her shows is her very strict no pictures policy. They asked a few people to leave after a second warning. No one holding their phones up the whole show

Deep Red Bells for sure, that's one of her better known songs and fairly representative of her overall sound. Star Witness is a classic, it was on all the best song lists the year "Fox Confessor..." came out. The other three are admittedly more personal choices.
If you need album recs, I'd start with "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood" first. That was the one where she basically perfected the "country noir" sound she's stuck with ever since. Then move on to "Blacklisted" and the live album "The Tigers Have Spoken," which are a good bridge between the noir sound and her earlier, more traditional country albums ("The Virginian" and "Furnace Room Lullaby"), which I would save for last. Her two most recent albums ("Middle Cyclone" and "The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight...") are both excellent and about equal in quality.
Random songs of hers I love: Outro with Bees Tightly Star Witness Maybe Sparrow Night Still Comes
Songs on Middle Cyclone I want to marry: This Tornado Loves You The Next Time You Say Forever People Got a Lot of Nerve Never Turn Your Back on Mother Earth Magpie to the Morning I'm an Animal Don't Forget Me
