So many teams need QBs and so many QBs could be available in both free agency and the draft that this may be a futile exercise.
I just thought it'd be fun to predict. Just a little game to pass the off season with. *shrugs*
As a Vikings fan I’m obviously very interested to see what happens with their QB situation. Keenum, Bridgewater, and Bradford are all free agents this offseason. I’m assuming Bradford is gone. I know the team loves Bridgewater, and Keenum has obviously way outplayed expectations. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens. If the Vikes advance in the playoffs I don’t know how they could let Keenum walk.
All that said, I’m not completely sold on Keenum or Bridgewater. I think Teddy still has a LOT to prove. He’s shown signs over his couple of seasons, but he’s still a long way from a proven QB, and I think he’s most likely an average starter over the course of his career. Keenum has been pretty great this season, but that came out of nowhere. And how much of his success been based on Pat Shurmur’s system? It’s likely that Shurmur will be a head coach somewhere next season. Would Keenum perform as well under a different coordinator? When healthy, Bradford is probably the most talented of the three, but he’s proven to be fragile and I seriously doubt the Vikes will offer him a contract. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a decent contract with another team though. I hope this all gets settled with the Vikings winning the SB and Keenum being the man.
Teddy would likely look a lot better playing with this offensive group than he did in 2015, when they still had a bad O-line and WR group and they had to give AP the ball out of the I/singleback even though Teddy was a lot better out of the shotgun. Teddy's last game action was getting them into FG range to beat the Seahawks only to watch Blair Walsh fuck it up. I think he deserves a chance and he'll probably be cheaper than almost any other QB.

Good point, Orpheus. The O-Line makes all the difference in the world. And Thielen and Diggs are stars now, so that obviously helps too. Ideally I’d love to see both Keenum and Teddy back next year and just let the cards fall where they may. But again, if the Vikes go to or win the SB the conversation becomes moot.

The crazy thing is that they could be a lot more dynamic if Cook were part of the offense. Not taking anything away from Mckinnon or Murray but hopefully he comes back healthy from the knee injury. He's an offensive weapon they haven't had most of the year along the lines of Alvin Kamara. Getting him back will be like getting an extra draft pick.

Lol, Marvin Lewis.
The Bengals are such a joke.
Yeah wtf
The NFC East has not had a repeat division winner since 2004, and I believe all 4 teams have won the division twice. Thee NFC East does not have the Bungles or the Browns.

Which team is going to have openings / which will have QB competitions is still up in the air in some cases. Let's see:
The Forget-About-It Division (9) NWE PHI DAL GB NO CAR ATL LAR SEA
The Almost Definitely Not Division (11) BAL (would be shocked, considering they put it together as the year went on--but Flaco's getting up there) CIN (they're keeping Lewis, so I don't think they are ready to blow it up) JAX (certainly took a step forward this year) TEN (they have issues to fix, but not QB) HOU (unless Watson's injury hangs around) KC (Smith would have to pull a Full Dellhome in the playoffs to lose his job outright, or for there even to be a chance) OAK (for better or worse) DET (see: Oakland) CHI (lots invested in their QB) TB (would be a hard sell to change) SF (The Undefeated)
The You Never Know Division (2) PIT (if they get trounced, could you see him hanging it up?) LAC (I haven't heard anything about Rivers maybe retiring, but it's gotta come up eventually)
Legit Competitions (2) MIN (I think it depends on how the playoff roll out, but I wonder if they're dead set on Casey being their QB of the future) BUF (Taylor is still signed, so something needs to happen)
Question Marks (i.e., QBs on the roster, but who knows if they're hanging around) (7) MIA NYJ CLE IND DEN WAS NYG
Legit Openings (1) ARI - as of today
So I'm guessing, what, somewhere between 5 wide openings (realistic) and probably 8-10 being the upper limit, if there are a few retirements and surprise choices. Agree/disagree?

Seems about right, yeah. Though, I'm not as confident about Alex Smith as you are.
