The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
So describe the gameplay.. like last man standing.. if I die early will the game end or do I respawn like cod
No respawn, ever.
It goes like this:
1. You join a match. 2. You're put in a lobby while each player joins. This part usually takes a few minutes. The player count shows on the screen, once there's about 100 players, there's a countdown from 30 seconds. In the meantime more players may join. Up to about 150. 3. You're all spawned in a large cargo plane. Flying toward an island. 4. As the plane flies over the island, you can jump out at any point. 5. Skydive. 6. Parachute and try to land somewhere not populated with other players. 7. Explore and loot buildings. 8. Find guns, ammo, health, armor. 9. Find a vehicle if you can. 10. Blue force-field slowly starts to surround the island and decreases in size every few minutes. 11. Encounter other players. 12. Kill them. 13. Try not to die. 14. Die. 15. Last person standing gets the Chicken Dinner. 16. Join a new match.
Also, at random times there are 'red zones'. These vary in size and you get a short warning before bombs explode everywhere. You can take shelter in a building and may survive. If you're outside at the time, you'll probably die.
The whole thing can often take 20 minutes or more. You may die in the first few minutes, or may make it to the top 10 and then die in a heroically stupid fashion.

Wolfenstein II is the real deal team. Took awhile for me to get into the story, but they've seem to have nailed the mix of humor, violence, and emotions. Great villian too. The gunplay is pretty fun too. Weapons feel like they have some weight and some good variety.

I tried the battle royale mode of Fortnite which was free on PS4 which is basically the same thing and it was kind of fun. But also terrifying and nerve wracking because you don't want to screw up.
I would die in the first 30 seconds and have to wait forever for a new game
This is not for me at all
It didn't take me long to work out how to survive at least 10 minutes or more. The wait time between matches is quite short, and doesn't feel long at all. I'm still crap at this game, but have achieved top 10 on quite a few occasions.
The decision is mostly down to whether you like 'last man standing' style games, or prefer respawn/deathmatch style and/or mission based/liner play.
I've sunk many hours into this, H1Z1 (king of the kill) and DayZ. I love this style of game.

I gave Fortnite a bit of a play, but I didn't get sucked in immediately. The loading and wait times were horrendously long, and the map is far smaller than PU Battegrounds. The building element was a nice addition, but I care more about looting and killing than building shit. if I wanted to build stuff, I'd play Minecraft with my kids .

Anyone try one of the generic Switch controllers out there? I hate to pay $70 for a goddamn controller.
I've seen the official controller on sale for $60 a few times in the past month. I get not wanting to pay that much but it is a phenomenal controller. Right up there with the best ever.

Pony up the cash. It's a great controller.

I finished the Champions Ballad DLC. 16 Shrines, 1 Dungeon and several side quests. I rolled my eyes at the motorcycle reward when it was first announced. Somehow it feels right and works well.

I can't wait to go back to Hyrule to play this. Will likely be my traveling game this spring.

Got some pro controllers for the Wii U and we've played so much NSMB with the normal controllers that using a real one feels really strange. And the d-pad seems to be something Satan put together, it keeps losing contact over and over randomly. Like I'm running to the right and suddenly I'm ducking and sliding. Ugh.
