thanks. i'm super stoked. the Rockerverb has been on my wishlist for a long time.

Lol. I just woke up from a dream where I was testing out these amps. I was at some big thrift store shop/hall where Stevie Van Zandt was hanging out. I was playing Darlington County with a strat through your new amp.

hmm, well i've logged a few hours on it at low volume so far which it does surprisingly well (through a 212). My regular practice amp is an OR15 and they both have a very similar sounding gain stage actually. Reading the promo material for the amp they describe it as 'vintage meets modern' which i think is quite on the nose. Right now i'm running it fairly dark (treble about 10 o'clock, mids at 12, and bass at about 3) and the gain at 1 oclock. At that setting it's low and dark and it's got an incredible lush distorted tone that is somehow both warm and menacing. The gain has these subtle harmonic overtones that are tough to describe but are just ear candy. The power chords just sing. It seems to have a nice warm clean too and the tube driven reverb is nice to have. It sounds better than the reverb on any pedal i've got on hand. It's a basic and unassuming reverb that doesn't do much to colour your sound.

but that's all at low volume. at band volume? we shall see on sunday

Honestly though I had no need for a new amp. I love my OR15 to death, and my main amp is a TH100 and i have absolutely no issues with that thing. It also sounds incredible and i have no desire to replace it....but the opportunity to own a MK1 Rockerverb was too much to pass up. I'm a weak man  .

i'm not a great or even really good guitar player but i have always loved them..I'm getting back into playing again and trying to teach my wife along the way..I played one of these today and loved it. I know its "cheap" but I think i'm going to pull the trigger..what do you real guitar guys think of it?

Gretsch cheap? Perish the thought. I’ve got one myself. Hell, if they were good enough for Chet, they’re good enough for anybody.

The only problem I have is with the Bigsby tremolo, the bridge floats around and it won’t stay in tune for shit.

They make some cool 20 watt heads nowadays. Check out the classic mini. You can always throw a drive pedal in front to get more distortion, if that's your thing. There's a switch that'll let you change the wattage and some cool other features, too.

this.

depending on your budget, i would highly recommend getting a decent 212 cab and building on that. there are so many great options out there once you've got a good cab to use as your base. on the budget side there are some neat offerings like the JOYO bantamp series, the Mooer little tank and the Vox MV50 series with the nutube tech all look really interesting. There are also about a million 5-20w lunchbox heads out there. the Boss Katana series is getting glowing reviews too.

Not my experience with a Bigsby at all, nor my current Fender Jaguar (also a floating bridge design).

Bigsby's are great!

Oh, I don’t think it’s the Bigsby’s fault at all. It’s whoever designed the floating bridge for this guitar’s fault.

An absurd price point, but I want it.

i'm not sure what the solution is for Gibson's financial and PR issues, but i'm thinking for starters they need to do something about their prices. it is a nice looking guitar though.
