Can you spot the problem with this e-mail I received from Amazon today, December 3rd?
They're just alerting to you that it will ship in mid-December, not that they have it in stock now. I got the same email about my Riot Act vinyl. Hope the "estimate" is correct.
Yup - I got the same email for both. If you look at the individual items, both show back in stock on 12/10.
I did an A/B comparison with the original Avocado and the new Avocado this weekend (Pro-Ject Debut III turntable, Vandersteen 1 speakers) - kind of meh.
* Overall the mix is better and not quite as harsh, but still harsh! * Low end seems to have been decreased on everything up to Army Reserve * Army Reserve has the best overall improvement; Gone is also better * Guitars tamped down on Marker with more prominence to the drum rhythm * Doesn't fix my main issue with the original mix: quite, muted sounds are still incredibly loud (Parachutes, Come Back). He did fix the snare some in Come Back - it doesn't sound like Matt is smacking crumpled paper grocery bags any more!
I'll spin it again this weekend, increasing the bass a bit on the receiver to see if that improves the low end.
Riot Act vinyl arrives at my doorstep tomorrow via Amazon/UPS.
Soon my collection will be complete (minus Backspacer and Lightning Bolt)!
I have original pressings of all of them. But I'm still way more excited about reissues of Riot Act and Binaural than originals of Backspacer and Lightning Bolt.
Yeah, the Binaural artwork does absolutely nothing for me.
I've never been a big fan either. It's totally fine. I'm not offended by it. Don't hate it or anything. But it always felt weird that people criticized the S/T cover so much when Binaural really isn't all that different. It just feels lazy to me. Here's someone else's picture of space. BOOM! Cover.

Still waiting for ST to come in to complete the collection. Has anyone listened to the re-issue of Riot Act - is this better or worse than the original pressing?

I know it's been months, but I'm really just listening to these reissues now.
Binaural did sound a bit flat, for sure.
I'm on Riot Act now and I think it sounds great. Lots of depth, very very clean pressing. I've been critical of the album's production in the past, but I listening to it this way improves it greatly. My 2nd record is pretty badly warped (my fault for not opening it for so long, I think) but it still sounds good, no skips or anything.
