how is there not a GVF thread yet? these young kids are making better music than any other rock band out there today (especially PJ last effort). Their EP 'From the Fires' has been getting a thrashing in my car

Sure they sound like Zeppelin and a touch of old Wolfmother, but their music is still better imo than anything else in the rock genre today

Zeppelin is played round the clock everywhere, we really didn't need another one.

Like these guys a lot, idc if they kinda rip off lz.. I'm just happy to hear a new band that actually plays instruments n stuff

I think a few of the tracks sound like lz ripoffs, where others are just songs heavily influenced by lz

I'm more intrigued by them at this point. The album is really raw, all the talent needed but lacking cohesion at times. The singer has odd delivery styles at times and lacks consistency through a whole song. I find that a little jarring. Maybe I need to change though.

They are really really good. The 8 song EP only has one mediocre track and it is the one cover. Loads of promise with this band and I haven't been this excited about new music in a while. The LZ comparisons are fine - it's been 40 years! I'd be thrilled if they keep making music "inspired by" LZ for the foreseeable future... but they won't. They will find their sound as they get older. They are still a bunch of kids!

I actively hate this. Every couple years some band like this comes along and a bunch of middle-aged white men praise the heavens because finally some kids in their early twenties (who all play their own instruments -- wow!) are making "real" rock and roll again, just like the kind that's been getting recycled through the classic rock radio circulatory system for the past 45 years. More power to 'em, I guess, but the appeal is lost on me.

I dunno man I just can't get into this new style of music.. if it wasn't broke in the first place don't fix it

My gf often has on top 40 radio, you can count the number of songs with guitar riffs on 0 hands

Why? All rock music is derivative of whatever came before. When was the last time a 4 piece rock band did something completely new? So a new band comes out that seems promising and that's a bad thing? Because it sounds familiar? It's been almost 15 years since Pearl Jam has done anything remotely interesting - I've been waiting for another band (or hopefully bands) to take their place. If not GVF then what should I be listening to? I'm genuinely curious because I have a hard time finding new stuff that I like and it isn't for a lack of trying.

What Kevin Davis said.

Fuck this band, Wolfmother and Jet and shit were bad enough the first time around.

Pftt...In my opinion this is very very boring band...
You have blues rock bands like this everywhere. It's not hard to write a song like this, just follow the formula.

The only reason why this band is making waves is because of that singer who sounds just like Robert Plant.

But hey..maybe the young kids nowadays never heard a zeppelin track. But they will probably be marketed at those who are very familiar with Zep....

Love gvf, pumped to have a real band that plays real instruments

I know I took a ton of heat for this before.. but I find todays style of music god awful.. I get it people are bored with standard guitar-drum-bass bands, but that's what I like and I'm sticking to my guns

This is the closest thing I'll get to a new zep album (I'm sure as time goes on, or maybe even throughout the new album, they'll form their own sound) and I'm cool with it

There are so many guitar based bands with people playing their instruments. So many.

This band sucks.
