Can you remind me the main thrust of Klosterman's Boba Fett/Pearl Jam argument in your signature? I must have read it, because I've read all his essay collections, but I'll be damned if I can remember the Boba Fett bit.

With all the reissues, remasters, and foggy lineage, is there a site that can rank the best "audiophile" or best sounding copies of the releases? Along the lines of the "definitive list of PJ Songs" thread, but for records and/or SACD/DVD audio/HD tracks of the albums? I'd be an undertaking, for sure, and it would have to be a visual spectrum analysis as all of our ears are different.
Discogs is a great resource, but I don't see a ranking there.
The original CD's are definitive, period. No vinyl bullshit. No remasters.
That's the easy way out! I'm hoping some weird Slovakian pressing of No Code will give us the full dynamic range we deserve.
I have a feeling that, yes, each album is just dumped onto a record with nothing special done, brickwalled or not. I'm going to look at my records this weekend to note the "mastered for vinyl" credits - Backspacer is this way, maybe Uke songs. I know for a fact the vinyl of Mirrorball is one of the best sounding records I have.
More on topic: I was excited to get on the new avocado complaint bandwagon when my record came yesterday, but it was in fact a copy of Ten for some reason. I have informed the authorities.
Guys, I am not a moderator! I swear to God! Why does everyone think I'm a moderator?

"We're pretty sure you meant to order this album, not our self-titled album".

Looking at the aggregate of posts from places like Vinyl Collective and the Pit, I haven't seen anyone who's gotten their order from SSD. Still waiting for a shipping estimate for Riot Act and Binaural from Amazon over here.

TL;DR: the Spotify remaster has a dynamic range of 7, while the 2017 remix has a dynamic range of 5. The original CD version had a range of 6, so the 2017 remix is more compressed than the original version; and the Spotify remaster has more dynamics/less compression.
I've been thinking and I'm going to send this to HDtracks in my request for a refund. They say on their web page about how they check for shit like this and yet there it is. I understand it's a corporation but Jesus, they say right up front they hate stuff like this and check for it so it shouldn't have gone through.

Sorry, what claim did HDTracks make that you are disputing?

I ordered all 3 from there and haven't heard a peep regarding shipping. I cancelled the order and am getting them separately through other retailers.
I have such a good pre-order price through Amazon that I'm holding off. My local chain doesn't even have them yet.
I called today, not because I'm angry but curious. They haven't received their allotment. Guy said they will start shipping next week sometime. Same with 7".

I called last Friday and the guy said the same thing (saying they would ship early this week)...
