This album has graduated from mid-tier to top-tier for me these last few weeks.

Lost in Space from the album Hawks and Doves is pretty trippy. Also the last two songs of the album are really good whether Neil was being sarcastic or not.

Stars n Bars is good but Hey Babe and Hold Back The Tears are just average compared to the rest of his 70's output. Bite The Bullet is one of his best deep cuts.

:shake: Hey Babe is one of his best ever! I agree on Hold Back The Tears.

I actually listened to Hawks & Doves yesterday, I'd say the first half is a monster, and the second half is just ok.

By the first single im guessing its more of the same.

Ugh, i think he's lost it. Going to give up hope for even another Chrome Dreams II, Le Noise, or something that isn't as bad as fork in the Road.

trying to put myself in your shoes, trying to feel how you feel

already great
You're...already great!
You're the promised land
You're the helping hand!

Geezes, Neil. This surpasses your ridiculous 80's output.

I fucking love Hey Babe

Little Wing is the only song I care about on Hawks & Doves

I like 80's Neil for the most part. Haven't heard This Note's For You yet. It's weird for Neil but is seems to have humor in some places and a kind of simplicity(the mutant synth pop of Trans).

Not a big fan of 90's Neil. Some inspired moments on each album but I rarely listen to that stuff, crazy to say on a Pearl Jam board I know.

Silver and Gold is okay, Greendale was where I said his song well has officially dried up. It happens.

At least Promise of The Real has given him a reason to play some rarities live.

I think Trans is better than anything he's done with promise of the real.

I know that as Neil Young fans we are supposed to enjoy the spontaneity and rough edges but these albums do sound like play for 40 minutes call it done, take a photo of me near that rusty car in the yard and hey new album ready to roll.

Neil Young
11 mins ·
Hi there,
December 1st will be a big day for me. The Visitor will be coming to your town. I will be going to my town. You will be able to hear me and see me. My archive will open on that same day, a place you can visit and experience every song I have ever released in the highest quality your machine will allow. It’s the way it’s supposed to be. In the beginning, everything is free.
Lots of Love,
neil

So it's a free streaming archive then?

Sucker though I am for physical media, this seems like a really cool and generous thing. Really looking forward to see what's coming (though the fact that he says that it's everything he's ever "released" makes me wonder about the nature of the project).

This inspired me to dig out a Neil album I hadn't listened to in a while, so I picked out "Dreamin' Man: Live '92." Man, sometimes there's nothing that hits the spot like just Neil's voice and an acoustic. What a great little album.
