I'm just picturing him giving up 20 transition baskets in the Finals right now.

I like him too much to picture that, so I'm more so dreading that. But yeah.

I got an update that suggests he's picking the Cavs, but I was actually thinking he's going to surprise people and go to OKC.

Haha I shoulda looked at my phone again within the last hour apparently. Guess it's already basically done.

Also, there was a great article on ESPN about Pop speaking out against Trump. I know it's already been said but it can't be said enough, Pop is the best.

Aren't you the guy who called him a "bully" for being mean to all those fragile sideline reporters?

Idk. Maybe. I've thought it was funny for at least the last 3 years. Hard to know what I may have said when he was whipping the Heat in 2014. I don't feel like I ever cared about it, though.

One of the best things for sure.
i used to agree with this until Doris Burke said he made her cry. Now I think he's a bully. A great coach, but a bully.

Also, reading those posts from Spurs-Heat II was great.

I made the mistake of looking at the old board first.

When you just brought it up, I was going to say the only time I remember thinking negatively about it was after I heard Doris Burke on Lowe's podcast.

But I love it. I think she does too, actually. That was probably like the day after I heard that and was feeling emo.

FWIW, I spent 2013 and 2014 in those threads pretty much pissing myself in fear and admiration of Pop and the Spurs.

And I made a terrible prediction in 2014 that Miami would win because of LeBron despite admitting that the Spurs were clearly better. :shake:

I still hate how you were right after game 3 by claiming the Spurs actually didn't play their best. I thought you were insane. And then the Spurs were better in game 4 and 5.

They were incredible in games 4 and 5.

I wonder how much Kerr studied those two games when formulating the current Dubs style. The spacing and passing is almost identical to what the Warriors do now.

I remember feeling at the time like the Spurs out-Heated the Heat in that series. The Heat desperately needed Tiago Splitter in the game. As soon as Pop fully committed to small ball it was all over. I've still never seen better passing in my life than in games 4 and 5. Game 3 the Spurs hit ridiculously tough, contested shots. Games 4 and 5 they were passing up good shots for great shots, as the cliche goes.

The Warriors style is based on a lot of things, but definitely heavily influenced by the Spurs system.

Man, those '13 and '14 Finals games were great.

Melo says there was a draft night trade in place that would have brought both him and Paul George to the Cavs but it "got called off."

I can't even.

Tonight. I'll be watching; should be fun to see how Irving, Hayward and Horford play together and what the bench rotation might look like. Also Taytum and Brown in action together.

That will be interesting. So many new pieces on the C's. It's on NBATV too, sweet.

Interesting they are playing pretty hard for a pre-season game.
