So the new bill does away with preexisting condition protections? And they want to pass it right before getting into midterms?

I honestly don't understand what is happening to Republicans right now. It's like watching a robot's CPU slowly burn out in a sci fi movie.

They figure on riding Trumps coat tails so they think they can get away with anything they want and his base will protect them.

They can't possibly be that dumb...not after the way he's been oh so happy to trash them throughout this month.

Eighteen of the states that will lose funding as a result of this bill have Republican senators. Only one can vote against it, if it's going to pass.

Here's a better map: how many millions of dollars each state would lose or gain:

Sounds like McCain is in.

What in earth could possibly have been agreed to behind the scenes, to make this deal go through?

The "market chaos" is in reference to the fact that cost sharing reduction subsidies, crucial to keeping premiums contained under the ACA, were protected by the (just killed) bipartisan bill but are left completely exposed to Trump cuts now, no matter what happens in congress.

The villain in this Ayn Rand novel sounds awful. Using government to circumvent the wisdom of the industry leadership this way. :shake:

Does anything more clearly say "this bill is trash" more than "we sold our bill to x by promising they'd be exempt from our bill?"

Is this a done deal? That's a truly shameful vote she'll be casting if she does indeed vote in favor of this on those grounds. As embarrassing and pathetic as the Cornhusker Kickback was, this is far worse. If, indeed, it goes down like this.
