Cool song. Listening to the 1994 Orpheum song and this caught my attention. Seems like its a little unfinished but its really good. I kind of think of Mississippi Queen in the guitar riff
It wasn't recorded during the Vs sessions. It was recorded during the sessions that yielded SOLAT and Breath with Dave A, amongst other tunes.
But this song has been released as a b-side to a go single, hence it makes sence to include it to the vs-redux, as well as the other tunes of that time. (imo)
why they didn't include this tune on vs(remix) as well as betterman(live), whipping, hti and so on.
not sure if i'm care much about this song, but i'm liking tthe vs version better, than ten's version

I dont think this is true. I love this song, and this version in particular. In the liner notes of the Go single, it says all tracks were produced by Brendan OBrien, whereas SOLAT and Breath from the Singles sessions were produced by Rick Parasher, so Im pretty sure this version of Alone was from the Vs. sessions.

Dave Abbruzzese also gets a songwriting credit for Alone on the Go single when it was written long before he joined the band.
Brendan did mix some of the songs from that 1992 session, the version of SOLAT on the Singles soundtrack for one.

I've always had a hell of a time keeping all the different versions of this one straight. There are 2 studio versions from the early days & then the horrid re-record for Lost Dogs, yeah?

Yes, though the Lost Dogs version is based on the instrumental track of the version recorded during the Ten sessions with Dave Krusen on drums.

Me too, I found the version I love, then lost it again and can't seem to find it. I always thought the demo versions hit harder than the b-side to Go, but then who knows.
Yeah, my favourite version is the recording from the Ten sessions with Krusen on drums. It's on that "Rarities and Unreleased Cuts" promo/working CD that surfaced a few years ago.
