If anyone needs a does of live music and wants to support two pretty good kids...
Sam The Astronaut is doing a live stream show on Saturday, October 24 at 5pm pacific, 8pm Atlantic time. As to what it will contain I don't know all that much other than they are dumping a lot of money into it and hope to break even. That's a sad thing for any band to say, playing one live show this year and hope to break even. Anyways, if you care to catch what two kids can come up with and throw a few dollars their way, https://sam-the-astronaut.square.site/.
They're offering just a stream, a stream with bonus content, stream with cd, stream with long sleeve t, or all of it. Starting at $13CDN, I think that's less than $10USD.

Live show is re-scheduled for Jan 9, 2021. I know they are putting a lot into this. 2020 was not the year they (or anyone) had planned. They hope they and you have a better 2021 and that this is part of a start to a better year. Show tickets, cd and merch available here, https://sam-the-astronaut.square.site/s/shop.
I have a lot of time for any band that says this;
"We know that times are tough right now, so if anyone is in a position where they would like to watch the show but can't afford a ticket, email us at samtheastronautband@gmail.com and request a comp ticket and we'll make sure you can watch the show - no questions asked. We want everyone who wants to be a part of this experience to be there! Please send requests no later than January 8th."

One last shout out for my kid’s streamed concert this Saturday night @6pm pacific (9pm east coast). I know they are working crazy hard to make this as cool as possible. They’ll be almost all of Midnight Carlight, some new songs, a cover or two (possibly a Kids See Ghosts track) and all the song that are your future favourites.

I hope some of you caught the show. If you did, please let me know what you thought,
Truthfully, they hit some rough spots on a song or two, but I think at times it was as good as it can get with no audience and a reliance on backing tracks. More unreleased thank I thought they would do. The final song was a song from Garrison to my son, not the love song it appears to be at first.
I do love that they were able to show they each can play drums, keys and guitars.

The band is up for a Western Canada Music Award for best pop artist. How they made it, I have no idea. Their largest streamed song is 1.3M versus artists up over 600M. Good on them and good luck but yeah, I wouldn't spend too much time on an acceptance speech.

That's great!
On what basis are bands nominated and on what basis do bands win?

Seems to be pretty standard industry awards. In this case it’s promoting music from western Canada. It’s as legit and big as we get for a regional award but they’re not highly coveted.
Pop Artist of the Year Artist. Province, Highest streamed song and number of streams Begonia (MB) Juniper 1.684M Olivia Penalva (BC) You Are the Reason 2.997M Sam the Astronaut (BC) Sunshine Gold (v2) 1.334M Shawn Hook (BC Reminding Me 125.048M Tate McRae (AB) you broke me first 625.184M
