I don't think the post office delivers to Montana.

I don't think the post office delivers to Montana.

Big Sky is unincorporated; it's a private company contracted by the USPS.

Everyone in the US should have theirs by Wed or Thur. If it's not there let me know. I've found out that "media mail" basically means "whenever the USPS gets around to delivering it.

oh it is, but most of it is first timer problems. For the most part it's gone pretty smoothly though.

Burt, do you think you'll further explore
Spoiler: show
the idea about depending on a possibly dead society vs. abandoning it and living a new way? That was the most interesting seed for me, when they are debating going to the city, and the one mouse/rat mentions being "above" essentially a hunter/gatherer life. Like they'd rather wither away and die in a life that's familiar.

Yeah I plan to, especially in the second book, though I'm not entirely sure how it will work out. A lot of it sort of emerges as I work on it (even though the broad strokes have already been finished for awhile). I've been surprised at how much of my own personality/hangups/beliefs are becoming themes as I go, without consciously trying to make it about something in particular.

Hey Burt, I just read Scurry. Great work man! Your coloring is fantastic.

What program do you use to paint over your Sketchup models?
How many more installments do you envision? Are you prepping another Kickstarter campaign?

So you can actually load skp files into photoshop? Or how do you convert it? I'm pretty good with sketchup, would love to tinker a bit.

oh I dont think so.

I take screenshots or export a jpeg and then paint over it.

It's quicker than drawing out a million perspective lines, and I like being able to move around in Sketchup or some other 3D program and pick cool shots to paint.

Once its in photoshop, it's just plain 2d painting using it as a guide.

If you want to take a 2d picture of your camera view in sketchup, go to File>export>2d something (I'm not at my computer), then you can save out a jpg or something.

Got it, this makes sense. Do you export individual items from a given sitting in sketch up, and then treat that as a separate layer in Photoshop? For example, if you have a kitchen scene, do you export just a refrigerator from sketch up? Or do you just take a 2-D image of the entire scene and then just magic wand that shit?

Sometimes I'll export bits and pieces out separately if I'm not sure about something or if things really need to be exact, but usually I'll export it all together and use the lasso tool to cut stuff out or something if I need to.

For the comic I wanted a painterly look so I traced over it by hand and used the lasso tool to color over everything so it has a wobbly, organic look (none of the lines are perfectly straight in the final). The simpler the model the better usually. If I get too detailed with it in 3d, that just makes it harder to paint over. I'd rather do the details later in Photoshop.

But with concept work I'm not that precious with it. I'll fidget with it in 3D for awhile then slap some rough color or texture over it in Photoshop and call it done.

that will be 1000$ please.
