I didn't realise you were from Sydney LMS. I'm in Tasmania.

Nice one. Been meaning to get to Tassy some time in my life. Yeah I'm a Sydney boy, currently up in Newie (man what I'd give for another Newcastle show, not that I saw the first one).

So the shortish story is a Sydney band called Iliad with female vocalist Katy. She was always late for jams and the hour before she arrived turned into the highlight. So we decided to be an instrumental band (GREENLAND) yet still be her supporting band (I'll post some of her stuff one day).
We went away for a week with a big bag of green and that was our first EP and some of the album. Got some international interest but not too much. Started an album in 2005 and then talked of moving to England to give it a serious go. I did, the other 2 copped out. Finished another week of drugs and jams in 2006 and rec'd before I left. It was finally finished and released in 2010. And with the birth of my son in 2011 we returned to Australia. They have another drummer now but are still unmotivated to really do much. It's a pity as we made some good music and it flowed naturally.
I was in an alt-country band in London for a few years too and I'll throw some of that up. It's pleasant stuff that I wouldn't listen to myself.
Yeah, it's a great track. It's a shame nothing eventuated for you guys as a band.
The whole 'female lead singer always being late' must be a common thing. About 10 years ago I was in a band with a female singer, and she was always late, left early, never paid her share of the studio fees, etc, etc. We booted her in the end, but nothing really happened with our band after that either, since the guitarist weirdly lost all interest in playing music ever again and then 'life' happened and we all started getting married and having kids.
From the start of next year I'm building a studio under my house (i.e. we kind of have a basement/under house area), and I plan to start a new band. But it would be the kind of band that's not aiming for fame, just a group of mates playing music together. It should be fun.

That was quite nice.
Thanks. From memory, that's what our producer said. It's quite demoralising when some guy says go away and write me 10 radio friendly tracks (against most of the band's will) and he proceeds to say Not good enough, No, Rewrite this, that was nice enough but only as an album track, No, this one has potential etc. Basically we then broke up.
I'm going to revisit these fuckers and post a few.

Nice one Sarge. That's about the extent of it, isn't it. The old home studio/jam space is my aim too but first I need to sort out the young family stuff.

That's a great voice. I can see why you persevered with her even though she didn't seem to be very organised.
