Not your traditional American donut, but Aebleskiver belongs in this thread. Once a year, the Lutheran church in my grandmother's town hosts a pancake dinner featuring all sorts of Scandanavian dough-type things. I could eat half a dozen right about now.

I grew up Catholic but have always found a kindred spirit in my Lutheran brethren, mostly because we both approach supper events with the same attention to community, organization and regional cuisine.
