Let's talk about them.

My friend gave me a bottle of Portuguese olive oil recently and I'm enjoying the different flavors it has compared to ones from Italy, Greece, or California.

I went through a phase where I was trying different olive oils, and my favorite at the time was from New Zealand. See if you can find some and give it a try.

For sure, thanks! Apparently they sell the Portuguese stuff at world market, so I'll look there for the new Zealand stuff

If we're talking flavor, I've worked on an olive oil farm in Tuscany several times and that stuff is manna from Heaven.

I think stuff is the best affordable olive oil on the shelf, at around $10/bottle:

If we're talking "cooking oils," then I use a standard-issue jug of olive oil for that sort of thing (pasta, poached/roasted fish, etc). If I'm going for a hotter fry, I'll pay extra for peanut oil of I can afford it (not always cost effective if you're having a bunch of company). Otherwise a canola oil for high-temp veg blend for frying.

actually I shattered our bottle outside on the driveway the other day so I'm holed up with my phone and my mitts.

I cook with basic olive oil. I drizzle the good stuff. No use wasting it on cooking where the difference is negligible.

If y'aren't using avocado oil, y'are doing it wrong.

Handles high heat like a champ.



(I also like a nice sesame oil for Asian food)

Sure. Should i change the thread name to oils and vinegars? A good balsamic is wonderful
