also if this candy bay lineup doesn't include an Idaho Spud, then you can all just go straight to candy bar hell

Ok I have everything but the bounty bar, and I know where to get it. Then I'm cutting them all open, lining then up (no wrappers) and making Anders tell me what is what.

What they are called in the US or in Europe?

It says on wiki that it’s not covered with real chocolate?

Let me guess, you only eat chocolate that is 98% pure aryan cocoa?

No, but I do think all the bars that Ruddo are buying are covered with real chocolate.

How is “real chocolate” defined differently than “compound chocolate”?

"Compound chocolate is a product made from a combination of cocoa, vegetable fat and sweeteners. It is used as a lower-cost alternative to true chocolate, as it uses less-expensive hard vegetable fats such as coconut oil or palm kernel oil in place of the more expensive cocoa butter."

and

"Chocolate is a range of foods derived from cocoa (cacao), mixed with fat (e.g., cocoa butter) and finely powdered sugar to produce a solid confectionery. There are several types of chocolate, classified according to the proportion of cocoa used in a particular formulation."

Good gosh. I've just read thru this thread and I'm riveted. Can't wait for Ruddo's results.

Btw, whoever asked about the Clark bar, I think we have something similar in Canada but it's called a Crispy Crunch.

I suspect more of these candy bars will tend towards the latter

Yes, US candy bars are usually filled with sugar, even more than European ones. But real chocolate is always a good thing in chocolate candy bars.

Here's what I have. I'm afraid my Mars bar supplier only has the European kind, so we'll see what happens

I'll unwrap them, cut them open, then make Anders guess what is what.

Ok. Let's go from left to right in the photo, tell me what they are from the bars in the wrappers in the post before this.

Snickers Almond (same here)
Milky Way US (very similar to European Mars bar)
Three Musketeers (Milky Way in Europe)
Almond Joy
Mars bar (European style)
Bounty (same here)

I’m guessing on Mars vs Milky Way US, they are so similar.

Again, UK milky way and three musketeers are different. The nougat is differently flavored and the milky way is fluffier.

What if I swap around the Mars and Milky Way?

I think the Almond Joy is correct.

It’s a similar concept, but a bit different in taste. The Milky Way in Europe is really white inside.
