the lettuce and tomato are like the professor and mary ann from the gilligan's island theme song. after awhile they just referred to them both as "the rest" and moved on.
You've got it backwards. The song originally grouped them together as "the rest," then was changed to actually name them. Just like one with an adolescent bacon-fixated mind thinks it's all about the crunchy pork, but eventually one matures to accept the tomato's role as the real star of the show
huh. well I'll be. i'm pretty embarrassed that i didn't remember this, considering I watched that show every day on TBS when it was on after Tom & Jerry and before the Brady Bunch when I was growing up.

I just realized that I don't think I've ever cooked pork even once in my entire life. I come from a Jewish family and, although it certainly wasn't a Kosher home, any sort of pork dish was exceptionally rare. So it isn't something that I'd think to include in a regular rotation. But also, my very first roommate in my very first apartment (my senior year of college), the first time I really started cooking in any regular fashion, was a friend of mine who was Muslim and kept halal. So, out of respect for him, I kept pork off the shopping list and out of the shared fridge (not that we shared a lot of meals, it's just what I did). Later on, I lived with my ex who had been a vegetarian and was then basically only eating fish and the occasional poultry. And we did share a lot of meals so the menu was shaped around that. (And then shortly after we broke up, I started cooking vegan and that's been that.) Even red meat I've probably only cooked a few times, honestly. It's always been a more regular part of my diet than pork, but I tended to always cook fish or poultry or veggies if I was the chef. My chili was always a turkey chili, my burgers were always turkey burgers. A brown sugar salmon was my signature dish circa 2013. I suppose it's possible that I cooked bacon over a camp fire at Boy Scout Camp sometime in the nineties but I don't actually have any memories of ever cooking pork. Amazing.

Let's say you have a prime* rib leftover plate, but you're at work. It's time to eat, but the meat is cold. Lucky you, you work at a place with a kitchen. But oh no... the kitchen only has two appliances, a microwave or a 700 degree pizza oven.

Air fryer finally made its way into our home. Wings were made last night, along with buffalo wing flavored turkey meatballs. This thing is a lot of fun.
