The saddest meal I’ve ever had was at the Fat Burger near MGM.

Pretty easy to get taken for a ride on the strip. Fat burger was a local chain--the owner's son went to Columbia and then came back to Vegas to start a DSA chapter before being unceremoniously removed from his position for trying to block a sit-in at Dean Heller's office and then later that month the Fat Burger at Green Valley Ranch tried to break up a unionization drive.

I just meant that the hard lighting and the lack of hospitality skills on display during a Fat Burger graveyard shift makes you second guess not using that last twenty in your pocket on one more roulette spin at Sahara.

The Sahara closed almost a decade ago so I've never had that problem.

Yeah but I suspect its days are numbered. The "family theme" casino trend is more or less giving way to the ultra-lux party experience.

Oh don't go, it's awful. We always preferred Stakeout on Maryland or Rum Runner on Tropicana for dingy local bars.

Gotta say, as much as I love Vegas I do not miss smelling like cigarettes every time we went out.

How about that one Italian restaurant that does free house wine and bottomless spaghetti?

For my money the El Cortez lobby bar is the best place to drink downtown.

cafe luxembourg on w 70th..classic french
shun lee on w 65th...more expensive chinese regional food but worth it
barney greengrass on amsterdam around 87th..my favorite breakfast place of all time
got to have a hot dog at grays papaya on the corner of 72nd/broadway..they won't put ketchup on it :)
so many others but those were regulars that still exist

walk by my old apartment on w 76th between central park and columbus

Long day of traveling, don't feel like leaving hotel tonight to look for food. Jack in the Box across the street. I haven't had an ultimate cheeseburger in forever. Hmmm.
