It's been in my radar since Sean Brock hosted Mind of a Chef. We're likely going to skip it because we plan a trip to Charleston at some point in the next year or two.

Well, if you do and you have 15 minutes to meet for a beer, let me know. We could meet at the Westbrook brewery.

Keep us posted. I might be going to Nashville in July.

We got engaged, so it was a whirlwind of celebratory food and drink. Here are some short thoughts on the places we tried. Nashville is a wonderful town.

Food
Rolf and Daughters Bread and seaweed butter was a great starter. Pasta Garganelli and pork ragout was out of this world. Server was awkward as hell but the atmosphere and neighborhood kept it sexy.
Hattie B's What can I say? Awesome chicken made even better by a Destiny's Child heavy playlist on the stereo. We tried the dark meat and the chicken sandwich. Both fueled us out of town and all the way to Birminghman.
Arnold's Country Kitchen
Hermitage Cafe
Late night biscuits, gravy and corned beef hash cakes cooked by a Ludacris lovin' meth head at 3am. Good times.
Two Boots First place we ate when we rolled into town at 10:30pm. Typical college 'hood pizza spot. Felt like Austin. Or Denver. All bike lanes lead to here.
The Southern Steak and Oyster
Husk

Drinking
Pinewood Social A lot of buildings in Houston are like this. Repurposed shells made cozy with a good cocktail selection and small bites. After I proposed we Ubered here and celebrated with oysters, pimento cheese croquets and French 75s. We'd have gone bowling but there was just so little time.
Bobby's Idle Hour Tavern (really want to check out this place.)
Springwater (and this one too)
The Green Hour
The Patterson House
Old Glory

Butchertown Hall Our favorite place on the trip. The bartender was friendly with Nashville pointers, had a couple of Last Words sent out to us, and his cocktail menu was inventive and tasteful. They found a way to clarify lime juice so that it could be stirred and served up. I tried it in a mescal cocktail. Game changer. Wood burning oven aroma as soon as you walk through the door. I wish we would have eaten here.
The Row (next door to our AirBnB is why this bland looking place made the list) Haha, we didn't even make it here. There was another place called Broadway Brewhouse just as close that served great drafts and cans. Our shot and beer spot before heading home both nights.
Robert's Western World I'm just going to lump all Broadway bars we visited into this one spot. They were all the same. All neon. All cool. All expensive.
Jackalope Brewing Tasty beers and great patio. I even bought a T-Shirt!
Tennessee Brew Works
Losers Bar First drink we had when we got into town due to proximity to airbnb. Nothing special. Gave us what we needed when we needed it, which was beer and hospitality.

Also worth noting is a little convenience store/coffee shop called J&J's Market on Broadway and Lyle. Right across the street from our front door. Our go-to for coffee and fridge beers.

Seriously, thanks all. :peace:

Let's take it to GD. This thread is still about food and drink around Nashville and other cities, though. Thread integrity is a real thing.

I don't get it. Did he make you get a steak or was there not a variety of other small things you could sample on the menu? Or were you just feeling a steak that night, no matter the price?

When your friend takes you out for a $70 steak you get the steak.

This is like the time thodoks walked me through why I shouldn't have persisted in trying to get the glassware right when a friend at a Super Bowl party offered me a stout that he brought from home, isn't it?
