my friend mike sheerin was one of the main chefs at blackbird. he opened a trendy place north of the city called the trencherman, and just opened a gig in the west loop called embeya (which is "progressive Asian" (like buggy)).
no shit? i've wanted to check out the trencherman for awhile now.
it's really good. check it out.
have you ever been to Au cheval in the near west loop? they have an amazing burger.
tried once but it was the usual two hour wait and the place had that stale bar smell. i've heard maude's down the street is the same people and the burger's just as good.
What about Kuma's? I read that's one of the best burgers in america.
it's gotten a lot of overhype in the past 5 years or so, and it's probably impossible to match that hype. kuma's is good to be sure. but it's pretty far northwest of the city, and the wait can be atrocious as well.
they opened kuma's too on diversey in lakeview a couple years ago. it's right by my house, never noticed much of a wait.
oh yeah, i forgot about that place. have you had it? how does it compare to the original?
i've only had kuma's too, wait was too long at the original when i tried. as far as i've heard, they're the same.

There is a breakfast place here called Elmer's and its offensively good. I'm not a big bacon eater, but the bacon here is giant slabs of meat and its amazing.
