The best Christmas gift that I received this year was a subscription to a bi-weekly farmhouse delivery. Since each delivery is full of seasonal surprises, I'm forced to be more creative with what I'm cooking with. What's the best thing to do with cauliflower? How can I use this butter lettuce most efficiently? How to cook a turnip? These questions, among others, have been on my mind all weekend.

What a great gift! I might just go vegetarian this week.

One of my favorite experiences eating cauliflower it was tossed with some curry powder and roasted. I did ask for the recipe.

1 head cauliflower
2 T spice blend curry powder
2 T canola oil
1/3 c roasted pine nuts
1/2 c raisins

Preheat oven to 450
Add oil to a hot skillet, add curry powder, cook for 1 min
Toss cauliflower with curry oil and pine nuts.
Spread evenly on a sheet pan and roast for about 10 minutes until cauliflower begins to brown
Transfer to serving bowl and top with raisins

Obviously if you dont like curry, then this is won't be something you'll want to try. I was not really interested but I do like curry and like I said, when I tried it I did really enjoy it. Maybe you will too. :)

I may try that, thanks. You must be on to something with the curry. This info came with an email accompanying this week's bushel:

Quote:
Suggestions for this week's delivery:

Roast any root veggie with olive oil and salt and pepper at 450 degrees until caramelized
Massage a sliced avocado into kale and add salt and pepper and a squeeze of lemon
Toss roasted beets, with sliced oranges and a vinaigrette and top with toasted nuts
Saute cauliflower and green garlic in coconut oil and a sprinkle of curry powder until brown and tender

No. Part of this "schtick" (though it's sincere so I guess not really a schtick at all) is because I'd like to generate discussion in Food & Dining, part of it is because I've been cooking a ton lately, and part of it is because I feel like it's easier to talk about than music or movies.
