We do use Scotch in Ireland. We use it to clean our toilets :)

I'm glad more restaurant bars are offering whiskey pours in a variety of sizes. Tried four types of rye last week for not that much money and walked away feeling reasonably warm and fuzzy without being totally sloshed.

I think Redbreast is my favorite Irish brand at the moment. Delicious.

I'm going off of memory, but I remember Redbreast 15 having a little more body and sweet spice (not over powering) to it. Still enjoyable and worth it.

How was this? I think I got a bad bottle, and it had an odd metallic tang to it. One of the few bottles I've poured out.

Yea, that's weird -- sounds like a defect (though I've no idea what that defect might be?). But it was really good, for a blended whiskey. Some of the bite up front you'd expect with a rye, with some of the smoothness at the end you've expect from a bourbon. Nothing amazing, but super enjoyable.

Not really a knob creek guy myself either. I do love me some Jeffersons though.
