Philly soft pretzels all the way. Basically THE only staple of our diet as kids that matters. Life was OVER if you didn't have 15 cents for your recess pretzel on Mondays and Wednesdays!
I like warm soft pretzels but served with cheese. But in New York they only serve any kind of pretzel with mustard. And when you ask for cheese or say you like cheese or whatever, people look at you like you raped a baby kangaroo in front of them.

That's madness. Pretzels very obviously need to be paired with cheese.

I take my soft pretzel with neither cheese nor mustard.
