I've been drinking this all winter long:

1 part spiced whiskey
2 parts apple cider reduction

Stir with large ice cubes and serve with a twist.

This is so fucking delicious.

That sounds pretty good. Do you find that a well-made cocktail before the food prep but after the ingredient round-up can greatly enhance the cooking experience?

Drinking definitely makes cooking better. I'm a brown liquor guy too but I've grown to appreciate gin a little more thanks to the lady.

It's quite good in certain drinks, she also likes martinis. The most refreshing of all liquors for sure.

I don't have any bitters, but I've been playing around with simple syrup, bourbon, and orange twists all night.

Now I have bitters. This will prove to be a contemplative evening.

The Vieux Carre

Rye, cognac, sweet vermouth, angostura, peychaud's, and benedictine. Can't lose.

For pina coladas, is coconut milk a necessity? Of course you need ice, rum, and coconut mixer.

I need to know! Thanks, RM.

I'm not a piña colada drinker, but I would imagine that the best versions of Puerto Rico's pride are made with the most natural ingredients. I say leave that "coconut mixer" out and just use coconut milk and pineapple juice.

didnt turn out too bad, it is definitely a strong whiskey drink, so if you dont like the whiskey then you probably wont like it, but it was good to sip on, but i made a 2nd and it was a bit much, i had had enough of the combination of the strong whiskey flavor with the sugar from the simple syrup. so if i have one again this weekend, i will only do 1 and switch to somehting else if i want to drink more
