I've never been a turkey fan..growing up my mom would always cook a duck on the side because I enjoyed those much more..thanks mom..anyway, this year my wife and I are cooking a Capon..basically a castrated rooster that grows up to be a big fat juicy chicken..Just picked it up at the butcher..who else dislikes turkey? I'm talking whole turkey..not cold cut turkey sandwiches because I like that

I want to try a heritage breed turkey one year. Apparently they have much more dark meat.

Yeah I'm not a big turkey fan. My family always had a ham as well, and when my grandpa was alive he'd have a duck. This year I'm doing ribeyes on the grill and making an oyster stuffing.

You bring the beer, I'll bring the food. Then, the following year, we'll switch coasts and switch items to bring.

This storm coming through will hopefully wake up the waves around here. I'm hoping to catch a few Thanksgiving morning.

Ever since I was a little kid, unless we went to someone else's place for Thanksgiving, we've always had salmon with crab stuffing for both T-day and Christmas Eve.

my dad doesn't like turkey either.
here's a story about why - my dad is a child of sicilian immigrants, so they would usually have whatever stereotypical italian food at thanksgiving. when he was a kid, his oldest brother worked for a restaurant. one year, his brother brought home a turkey from the restaurant and my dad, having never had it before, stuffed himself on turkey.
he then proceeded to get sick from it, threw up, and never ate it again.

he carves a mean bird though. the end

you could spend thanksgiving eating prime rib and listening to big band music. and if you like stories about being a kid during the depression or being a member of an army band unit after WWII ended, he'd be in paradise.
