«Golden honeydew melons emit a fruity and floral aroma around the stem when ripe, and the blossom end will feel springy and soft under gentle pressure, sometimes displaying a slight opening. The melon should feel heavy for its size and have a refreshing, sweet flavor with a honeyed aftertaste. Golden honeydew melons are traditionally sweeter than green honeydew melons.«

Kirkagac Melons are a Turkish variety. The shape of the fruit can be oval, round or long. The average weight of the melon is 2-4 kg. The melon bark is thick, wrinkled and yellow in color with green spots. The pulp is tender, juicy and sweet, white in color and tastes like a watermelon. The Kirkagac Melons are less aromatic compared to other varieties.

I’d like to try that

After one hour in the fridge it tasted very fresh, but not nearly as sweet as I expect from a melon.

See Turkish people often use it in meals. Will see tomorrow how the 18 hour fridge version does. Might have to use it in a smoothie, think it could be perfect for that.

Really came alive today. Still a bit of a vegetable aftertaste, which is rather pleasant once you get used to it. Much sweeter after getting some time open in the fridge, with just some plastic wrapper for cover.

Forgive the bit of hyperbole, but I had a near life-changing melon dish at this place last night. Melon wedge scored into forkable bites, prepared with molé, goat cheese crumbles, tajin and chamoy, few other things..

So fucking simple and so perfect. Colorful, tasty and full of texture

Not sure. It was bright orange. Brighter and sweeter than a cantaloupe. Might have been a dream melon.

I found a photo of the exact dish from a local restaurant review here: https://s.hdnux.com/photos/01/27/02/52/ ... /900x0.jpg

Okashi is a traditional Galia melon but with a unique taste, an intense aroma and unbeatable quality characteristics. This is only achieved through a philosophy of hard work and an exclusive devotion to cultivation.

Just had my first Okashi-melon. Delicious.

About to try this one for the first time. Although it looks a lot like a traditional Snowball melon.

Image

The sweetheart white melon is an exotic extra-sweet variety thanks to its high Brix rating. We have supported this variety since we first tasted it, delighted as we were by its overall exquisiteness. It is the result of an intense research process and constant testing to achieve a melon in which an amazing flavour and small size prevail —parameters that we have extracted from different market studies that analyse current customer demands.

Due to its texture, color, flavor and level of general satisfaction, it has been the consumer who has made it a staple among the stands of the most exclusive markets and greengrocers, granting it this 2021, for the first time the prestigious seal “Sabor de año”.

Nutritional values and health benefits

The sweetheart white melon, also known as Sweet Snowball melon, has great nutritional value and health benefits due to the vitamins and minerals it contains, being very similar to those of the toad skin and yellow melon varieties.
